Lyndon embarked on his Estate Agency career in 1977. Son of a successful North London building contractor he followed his father’s interest in property but wanted the personal interactions this industry provided. A key influencer of his time Dai Jones gave Lyndon his first role within Bairstow Eves in the London area, when they only had 13 offices, where, with strong ambition, he became their youngest manager at the time. It was here that he found his early interest in technology to assist the estate agency business.

In 1984 he moved to the West Country to join The Lester Smith Partnership based in Exeter & East Devon. Following an acquisition by Bristol & West Property Services in 1987 he moved to Dawlish as Area Manager. In this time Lyndon joined the regional committee as a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents and latterly becoming a member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (Propertymark).

Lyndon with former colleagues from Lester Smiths became a founding Shareholder and Director of Bradleys Estate Agents in 1992 only missing his aim of being a business owner by a small margin of time. The Group expanded to become the largest independent Estate Agent in the South West and now have 32 offices engaged in providing the Complete Property Service. The aim throughout has been to gain and maintain Customers for Life through its activities in Sales, Lettings, Property Management, Land & New Homes, Mortgage Services, Conveyancing Services, Auctions, Commercial, a dedicated Customer Experience team and a subsidiary firm of Chartered Surveyors.

Meanwhile, he left day to day residential estate agency in 1999 to pursue other group business opportunities such as Asset Management, Customer Services, General Insurance, Relocation and Overseas Property, while relentlessly pursuing his main interest in Prop Tech in his role as the group’s IT & Commercial Director overseeing the business relationships with the group’s tech suppliers.

Since 2008 his primary focus has been on expanding Bradleys Lettings business and its portfolio of properties under management, via organic growth and acquisition. He has overhauled this side of the business with full integration of office-based Sales and Lettings teams along with a centralised property management team based in the company’s head office.

A self-confessed serial networker, Lyndon would be found at most industry conferences and exhibitions looking out for the next piece of tech to assist in the smooth running of the business and to provide Bradleys a competitive edge against its competitors. He thrives on relationships with like-minded Estate Agents and Suppliers around the country to share best practice and learn from every aspect of the business.

** After a career of 43 years in the industry and 28 years since co-founding Bradleys, Lyndon has decided to hang up his boots and retire from day to day agency. He will retain a keen interest in the progress of his company and intends to attend trade events in the future having been sadly missed by all. He leaves behind a strong board, a group of hugely talented individuals in senior management and over 200 highly committed staff. He will spend more time with his amazingly supportive Wife, 2 fabulous Daughters and gorgeous Grandson. More golf and time at his home in Spain will be on the agenda as and when allowed.

I don’t have the patience for reading but the underlying messages in ‘How to win friends and influence people’ by Dale Carnegie and ‘Rich Dad - Poor Dad’ by Richard Kiyosaki ring true for customer service and investment strategies

My favourite quote

In our trade, if you’ve got nothing to do you’re doing it wrong! There’s always someone to talk to and do business with.

Don’t ever think that computers and technology will sell more houses for you, only good old fashioned hard work will do that.

Good use of Tech will release you more time to provide exemplary service.

Good things come to those who put the effort in!

Bent is a good name for an Estate Agent 😀
